What to Pack for your First Yacht Charter in Singapore

If you’re planning your first yacht charter in Singapore, get ready for a day of sun, sea, and celebration! As with any occasion, whether it’s a birthday party, a team retreat, or just a casual day out, packing the right essentials can make all the difference. But what exactly do you need to bring with you to maximise your first yacht experience? We’ve got you covered! Here’s a complete guide on what you should bring onboard to stay comfortable and fully prepared.

Swimwear and a Change of Clothes

A yacht party isn’t complete without a dip in the sea. As Lazarus Island is surrounded by other offshore islands, the waters in the area are pretty calm. It would be a waste not to enjoy the sea especially in a country as hot as Singapore. Therefore, bring your favourite swimsuit and a change of clothes for when you’re done swimming. Consider lightweight, breathable clothing like cotton dresses, linen shirts, or board shorts to stay cool.

Pro Tip: Bring toiletries and towels so that you can wash off and freshen up. Bathrooms and hand showers are available onboard our yachts for you to use.

Sun Protection Essentials

You’ll be under the sun most of the time, so come prepared to protect your skin and eyes.

  • Sunscreen (reef-safe preferred)
  • Sunglasses (polarised for better clarity on water)
  • A wide-brimmed hat or cap
  • Light cover-up or rash guard

Pro Tip: Avoid spray sunscreens onboard as they can make the deck slippery.

Footwear

This, surprisingly, is a very commonly asked question amongst our past guests. Footwear is generally not allowed onboard the yachts, but there will be a shoebox available for guests to leave their shoes in and this shoe box will be onboard the yachts at all times.

  • Flip-flops or sandals for boarding and beach landings
  • Water shoes if you’re planning to snorkel or kayak

Motion Sickness Tablets

If you are prone to sea sickness, we highly recommend you bring motion sickness tablets so that you can feel comfortable throughout the yacht charter. Trust us, this is not something that you want to de-prioritise. Motion sickness is what makes a yacht charter a hit or a miss. Although waters are very calm in Singapore, there are moments when a fast-moving boat or ferry passes by and the waves caused by their speed, create slightly stronger currents which make the yacht sway a little.

Pro Tip: Avoid staying in the saloon of the yacht. Instead, sit at the outdoor deck and look far whenever you feel a bout of sea sickness creeping in. Do NOT use your phone or read if you are sea sick.

Food and Drinks

Here at White Sails, we absolutely welcome you to bring your own food and drinks. We don’t charge corkage fees for alcohol and we don’t have any restrictions. Only red wine is not allowed onboard our yachts because if spilled, they are quite difficult to clean up.

To reduce the hassle of planning what to bring onboard, you can also consider catering from the yacht provider you’re going with. For example, we offer a wide spread of bbq menus for our guests, and they are all halal-certified as well. Our menus boast a local spread with favourites like chicken wings, satays and sambal sotong (squid), as well as other seafood items. We also have a great vegetarian menu as well, with a variety of vegetables available for grill like mushroom skewers, pumpkin and broccoli.

Special Touches

Are you planning a surprise birthday party or proposal? You will probably need to decorate the yacht to mark such special occasions. We are quite flexible with decorations as long as the decorations comply with marina guidelines. You can also come 15-20 minutes earlier (free of charge) to set up your decorations. Simply speak to our team, and we can advise you on how you can make your surprise a successful one.
